Sunday, Snowy Sunday

Well I guess I jinxed myself by talking about snow in my last post because as I type we are under a Winter Storm warning.....ugh, I smell a snowday for tomorrow. And if the snow weren't enough, like the rest of the midwest we are freezing our butts off with bitter cold temps. Last I looked we were at -3 degrees. Add brisk north wind off of Lake Superior and even a quick step outdoors is downright miserable. Even the dog knows it's too cold to be outside. Yesterday she left a little surprise for us in the playroom, but I couldn't bring myself to scold her. Speaking of the little angel, here is recent picture......

Could she be any cuter? I never thought I'd be making a fuss over a dog, but Cricket has changed that. And thanks to cousin Katie and Lilly, she likes to play dress up too :) No seriously, she actually enjoys wearing clothes.

In other news, the Tooth Fairy made her maiden voyage into Kelli's room Thursday night. The little bugger came out less than a week after we noticed it was loose. She was so excited to wake up the next morning and find a crisp $2 bill under her pillow. So, another huge milestone for my baby, can't believe she'll be 6 years old next month. Here she is working on sporting the jack-o-lantern look.

I am also happy to report that as of Jan 30th I am an officially licensed child care provider! Funny thing is, I found out by accident. As of yet, I have not heard a word from the State. I just happened to be poking around on their website and there I was, open for business. http://www.dleg.state.mi.us/brs_cdc/dt_lfl.asp?CDC_LIC_NBR=DF020287835. With the threat of jail time behind me (yes, I was actually threatned with a trip to jail) I no longer have to sneak kids into my house on a daily basis. Hopefully the woman who has been so concerned with my ability to care for children will leave me alone now and go back to running her own business. I still have to get through the home inspection part but I think after analy reading the State's book of rules and taking notes, I should pass with flying colors. If not, my every infraction will be online for the world to see....that in itself is enough incentive to go above and beyond the States standards.

And last but not least, I got news this morning that my Gramma J is back in the hospital. After being done with treatments for lung cancer she was doing well but was admitted this afternoon for severe pain in her back. Not sure as of yet what is causing the pain, but if you could spare some prayers and some positive thoughts for her it would be apprecited.

Signing off now to get dinner ready, in honor of the Super Bowl we're having brats, too bad we'll be cheering for blue and orange instead of green and gold. Oh well, with Brett back there is always next year right?

Take care everyone and stay warm!!

Love, Carla

Welcome Family & Friends....I decided it was time for the Ericksons to jump on the Blog-wagon. I'd like to thank the Petska's for inspiring me. Little Braden's weekely blog updates are more exciting around here than the weekly issue of the Munising News. Of course there are no bowling scores or District Court gossip, but his happy little face is enough to brighten up any dreary winter day.

Speaking of winter....I know everyone south of us is probably wondering what the snow situation is like around here. Well it's here but just barely. Usually by now were are marveling at the size of the snowbank in the Family Dollar parking lot, waiting for it to become as tall as the store's sign. Actually I'm not even sure if you could find anything here yet that is even worthy of being called a snowbank....a pile many, but not a bank. Even so, it hasn't stopped the snowmobilers from flocking here in the droves the last few weekends. In fact Uncle Wayne is due next weekend for his annual trip.

Since Christmas came and went and only a fraction of our cards were sent out (mybad), I'm hoping this Blog will be a cool way to keep everyone update on what our family has been up to.

So that's it for my intro, I'll be posting again soon with the latest in Erickson family news.
